Beirut, Libanon. In a city characterized by social inequality, a hopeless love develops between the Ethiopian housemaid Mehdia (Clara Couturet) and Ahmed (Ziad Jallad), a refugee from Syria. While Mehdia struggles with precarious working conditions, Ahmed collects scrap metal to stay afloat. Despite a mysterious illness affecting Ahmed’s body, the two try to escape the increasingly hostile environment. With sensitivity and humor, Wissam Charaf tells the story of two people who stand together against the inauspicious circumstances of their time.
