Possession

446346

Berlin, early 1980s: Mark and Anna's marriage is in ruins. The arguments, which their son Bob suffers from, escalate even further when Mark, a former secret service agent, learns of Anna's affair with Heinrich. While Mark falls for Helen, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Anna, a private investigator hired by him follows Anna to an old apartment building. There he discovers Anna's sinister secret: a bizarre monster...

The fragmentary narrative of Possession knows no rules. Andrzej Zulawski's radical magnum opus features boundary-breaking performances by Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill, an almost unbearable tension and omnipresent paranoia, Bruno Nuytten's unrestrained camera work, and extreme eruptions of violence—all set in close proximity to the Berlin Wall.
