FARAH follows an Afghan teenage girl, who was raised as a boy according to the tradition of "Bacha Posh", as she searches for her identity in Germany.

Raised as a boy according to the Afghan "Bacha Posh" tradition, Farahnaz self-confidently negotiates the roles assigned to her by society - as a migrant in Germany, as a girl dressed as a boy, as a family member and as a friend. FARAH is a film about growing up; about the complexity of locating oneself in a foreign context and finding a home in it. The documentary accompanies the teenage protagonist Farahnaz as she grows into and out of different images of herself and others.
