The LETsDOK documentary film days take place in September for the third time. Documentary film is honoured at numerous locations throughout Germany and a space is created for filmmakers to meet with their audience. In this context, the docfilm42 platform for independently produced documentaries presents the 2012 film Alleine Tanzen (Dancing Alone), followed by a discussion with the director Biene Pilavci.

In her autobiographical film, Pivlaci presents the life of her family, which was often marked by parental violence in her childhood. To what extent did the hatred between her parents and the frequent outbreaks of violence influence her and her four siblings? Although she herself distanced herself from her family at the age of 12, she comes to the realisation in the film that you cannot go anywhere without taking your past with you.
