Minotaur

538537

Russia, 2022. When Gleb, a successful company director, finds himself under siege from mounting corporate pressures and an increasingly unstable world, the collapse of his carefully ordered life accelerates toward violence.

At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Minotaur was awarded the second-most prestigious prize, the Grand Prix, as well as the award for Best Composer.

As the teller of a moral tale, Zvyagintsev doesn’t go all in, guns blazing. He doesn’t deliver a final judgment. His gaze, however, is unremittingly stern, as if he were holding the scales of justice in his hand, waiting to see the balance tip... 'Minotaur' is a great piece of work. - Deadline

This rigorously well-made, grippy-as-a-live-squid, toska-steeped work is Zvyagintsev’s most openly critical commentary on the motherland’s current political, spiritual and moral malaise, a denunciation never said in so many words but expressed with intricate layers of irony. - The Hollywood Reporter
