Piaffe + Talk
-
We are very pleased to welcome performer* Simon(e) Jaikiriuma Paetau and producer Kristof Gerega for a talk on Friday after the screening.
Synopsis
After her sister Zara has a nervous breakdown, the introverted Eva has to take over her job as a sound engineer. For a commercial, she puts a horse's behavior to music - and becomes so passionate about her work that a tail grows out of her tailbone. As the tail grows, so does Eva's sexual desire. She begins an S&M affair with a botanist who researches ferns, and experiences her body in a way she has never felt before.
In Piaffe, Tel Aviv-born, Berlin-based director and artist Ann Oren blends elements of eroticism, fantasy, and performance art into a surreal celebration of being different and wanting to be different. Shot on 16mm, her film is "body pleasure" par excellence and at the same time a tactile love letter to the underrated magicians of cinema. In Locarno, Piaffe was celebrated as a sensual masterpiece and awarded the Youth Jury Prize. A transgressive, elusive film full of new and fascinating charms.
