There’s never really such a thing as silence, only the sounds we haven’t learned to hear yet. In film, that can mean trusting pauses, accidents, and what slips in unplanned.

Sometimes control won’t get you there. Frame it, or leave it.


Hold the shot, follow the noise, let the in-between speak—and see what happens when you stop forcing meaning. In May’s edition of open screen, we want to listen to the silence with you. We’re looking forward to your submissions.

Shorts up to ~15 mins of any format and level of expertise are welcome. 
Our only condition is that you can be present for the screening.
