Das Lehrerzimmer + live Q&A

-

We are thrilled to stream a Q&A with director & screenwriter İlker Çatak, co-screenwriter Johannes Duncker, leading actress Leonie Benesch and producer Ingo Fliess live from Hamburg to the our cinema on the release date on Thursday, May 4, following the screening.

About the film:

Carla, a dedicated sports and math teacher, starts her first job at a high school. She stands out in the new college because of her idealism. When a series of thefts occur in the school and soon one of her students is suspected, Carla is outraged and decides to get to the bottom of the matter herself. But the case isn't so easy to solve, and it starts to make waves. Carla is quickly condemned as idealistic by her colleagues, she has to answer questions from outraged parents and mediate between quarreling students. The more she tries to do everything right, the more she reaches her limits. The school system becomes unbalanced.

İlker Çatak misses nothing in his excellently observed film. He relentlessly stages the school as a microcosm in which there is no longer any outside and nothing remains private. The Teachers' Room is a study of power relations and how individuals are torn between hardened fronts.
