Cinema Unseen: The Hidden Screen of Yemen - Yemeni Short Film Night

357616

We are delighted to present a special night of short films by up-and-coming young filmmakers from Yemen in collaboration with the Goethe Institute Cairo: All films are dedicated to the topic of "Al Dar" (Arabic for "homeland") in very different formal ways and from a variety of perspectives. The appreciation of Yemeni cultural heritage and storytelling is clearly evident.
Following the screenings, a 45-minute panel discussion featuring Yemeni investigative journalist and producer Yousra Ishaq, and Yemeni filmmaker and director Osama Khaled, both based in Berlin and moderated by Najla Alshami from YemenArtBase, will take place. Under the theme of “Cinema Unseen: The Hidden Screen of Yemen”, the panel will discuss the Yemeni filmmaking scene from different perspectives and make it tangible to a non-Yemeni audience. Join us for an evening of captivating cinema and enriching dialogue!

All films will be screened with English subtitles. The panel discussion will be held in English.
