Der neue Film von Regie-Ikone Jim Jarmusch ist ein behutsam als Triptychon komponierter Spielfilm. Jedes der drei Kapitel spielt in der Gegenwart, jedes in einem anderen Land: Father ist im Nordosten der USA angesiedelt, Mother in Dublin und Sister Brother in Paris. Es ist eine Reihe von Charakterstudien, ruhig, beobachtend und ohne Wertung – und zugleich eine Komödie, durchzogen von feinen Fäden der Melancholie.
