The middle class fears nothing more than losing what it has: work, status, security. In cinema, this fear has long been the driving force behind major social dramas: from Bong Joon-ho's Parasite to Radu Jude's Kontinental '25. In his new film No Other Choice, Park Chan-wook also addresses this fear. To do so, he adapts the novel “The Axe.” He transplants the story into the hypermodern working world of South Korea, a country that, like no other, vibrates between the pressure to succeed and digital upheaval.
