Shoe salesman Marty (Timothée Chalamet) has only one goal in life: to become world champion in table tennis and thus ascend to the Olympus of celebrated athletes, among whom he has long counted himself. In order to participate in a tournament in London, the young New Yorker puts all his eggs in one basket, but is defeated by Japanese sports star Endo in a nerve-wracking final. But that's just the beginning of the odyssey of a man who is willing to risk everything for fame and success. Because Marty's dream is definitely a few sizes too big for his uncle's small shoe store.
