With its iridescent scales, the Rainbow Fish is the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean. But he is also vain and proud, and his behavior offends the other fish. This makes him feel increasingly lonely. When he finally loses one of his beloved glittering scales, it is the Little Blue Fish, of all creatures, who accompanies him on a journey to the deepest depths of the ocean to find it. An adventurous journey through the ocean begins—and the Rainbow Fish realizes that together we are much braver than alone, and that true friendship is more precious than even the most magnificent coat of scales.

The Rainbow Fish, the first film adaptation of Marcus Pfister’s world-famous children’s book classic, premieres on November 19, 2026. In collaboration with the renowned Augsburger Puppenkiste, this wonderful story about friendship has been adapted for the big screen with contemporary touches and great attention to detail.
