A re-release of the Ghibli classic in a newly restored version! Hayao Miyazaki’s wondrous and eerie fairy tale not only won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film but also the Golden Bear at the 2002 Berlinale, making it the most-awarded animated film of all time.

Chihiro really doesn't fancy moving houses. She is in the car with her parents on the way to her new place of residence, her parents show her her new school as they drive past, but the 10-year-old girl just grumbles that the old school is much nicer. On the road to her new house, however, a strange obstacle suddenly appears and Chihiro's parents decide to follow a passage that seems to lead directly into the mountain.

On the other side, they find a vast landscape with individual houses, which Chihiro's father thinks he recognizes as the remains of an old amusement park; as they are now hungry, they feast on the food that seems to be waiting unguarded at one of the stalls. Chihiro, however, wants nothing to do with it, urges her parents to leave and then explores the area a little further; as the sun sets, ghosts and figures emerge from the shadows. A boy called Haku warns her that she must return immediately or she will be trapped in this world - but Chihiro's parents, still bent over their food, have turned into pigs and it is now too late for Chihiro too. She must find work in the bathhouse of the witch Yubaba, otherwise she will be trapped, unwanted as a human among ghosts.
