White Snail + Q&A
-
Following their acclaimed documentaries Space Dogs (2019) and Dreaming Dogs (2024) – both of which were screened at our cinema – White Snail is the first feature film by directing duo Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter. It premiered at last year's Locarno Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize and the Acting Prize for the two lead actors. We are delighted that Levin Peter will be presenting the new work in person at the Wolf cinema for its theatrical release.
A Belarusian model dreaming of a career in China finds herself drawn to a mysterious loner who works the night shift at a morgue. Their encounter unsettles her sense of body, beauty, and mortality. The fragile love story of two outsiders who turn each other's worlds upside down and discover that they are not alone.
A turning point in two young lives in Belarus — a moment of defiance against stigma and exclusion. Open questions about a future not yet decipherable arise, like something smoldering in the haze of sultry summer nights. (Elsa Kremser, Levin Peter)
The leading roles are played by model Marya Imbro and visual artist Mikhail Senkov from Belarus.
