We love film posters - discussion
Film posters are not only an effective visual means of advertising a film as widely as possible, but in the best case they are also an art form of their own. As illustrations or graphics, they represent an emotional interpretation, an artistic reaction to a cinematic work.
Out of love for poster art, we have been printing a monthly programme since 2018, in the middle of which an artist presents a poster for a current film that is completely free of marketing constraints: the "exclusive Wolf Gazette poster". Until today, around 70 very special film posters of very different artistic styles and forms of expression have been created, which can currently be seen in an exhibition in our café-bar.
In this context, we invite you to a discussion on the subject of film posters and artistic treatment in our studio on Wednesday, 21 February at 7 pm. The panellists are initiator and Wolf founder Verena Stackelberg, illustrator, musician and Wolf employee Miro Denck, who curates the selection of artists and posters for the Wolf-Gazetten and occasionally creates some himself, as well as the artists Molly Dyson and Sharmila Banerjee.
The exhibition and discussion at Wolf are taking place on the occasion of the exhibition The Big Screen - Film Posters of All Time at the Kulturforum, where some of the Wolf Gazette posters can also be seen.
We are part of INDIEKINO CLUB, an association of ten Berlin art house cinemas. On the joint site INDIEKINOCLUB club members can stream selected arthouse and indie films online at their convenience. In addition, they receive discounted admission to all participating cinemas with their ClubCard. Club membership costs €60 per year and can be purchased online or at the cinema box offices.
