Workshop with Takashi Makino & Rei Hayama (in English)

3D Organic Vision / Sound

28th to 30th of June, 2 to 6 pm, Wolf Studio

Registration at: howling@wolfberlin.org

In this workshop Takashi Makino and Rei Hayama will sensitize the participants' vision and hearing. Through making collages, through visualization of soundscapes or through 3D images combining 16mm film and music, they will encourage the participants to creatively intertwine sound and image. To manually generate a picture in which the sound is visualized evolves a physical sensation that can not be experienced through digital image and sound processing. For Takashi Makino and Rei Hayama sound and image are equal parts of a whole, the sound is never subjected to just accentuating the image.

Makino Takashi from Japan is one of the most exciting artists in experimental film. His films, which are developed from analogue formats, have won numerous awards at various film-, video- and art festivals. He works closely with other artists and international musicians and has appeared in solo and group exhibitions worldwide.

The audiovisual artist Rei Hayama lives in Japan. She started filmmaking in 2008. Through the medium "film" she is looking for an access that connects human kind with the natural world. Her work is shown in exhibitions and at festivals all over the world.
